The song does epitomise the City as there are two astounding sides to this glorious place. The bright lights and buzz of the City and the calm, beauty of Central Park. It is a place that has it all. The sights, the sounds, the glamour, the shopping and it also has a great big heart. I Heart New York is everywhere and should be as the heart of the place does pump right the way through it. While there are many reasons to fall in love with New York, I simply love the whole ‘feel’ of the place. You use all your senses on a visit here.

The taste of the fantastic restaurants of which the list is endless, but some of my favourites are Gallaghers which is an iconic Steakhouse near Broadway, 21 Club, The View which is a great revolving bar and restaurant which has a buffet and an a la carte restaurant. I love it here for the spectacular views and cocktails! Finally, the famous River Café which also has great views of Manhattan.

The sights: The Statue of Liberty, Empire State and One World Trade Center are truly magnificent structures but also represent so much more, and sightings of these breathtaking buildings bring such emotion when you set your eyes on them.

The sounds: From the buzz of the people to the street dancers and performers and if you are lucky the sounds from a film being shot in this great location. You may even spot your favourite star! I have witnessed a few films being made on my visits including Wolf On Wall Street, Get Him To The Greek and Step Up.

Whatever your interests are, there is something for everyone. If you love museums, the city is your oyster from Art galleries galore to the National History Museum to the Ellis Island Immigration Museum which is a fascinating and emotional experience as it reflects the hopes and dreams of all those that passed through. Even if you aren’t an American looking for past ancestors, you can empathise with the families arriving in search of a better life for themselves and their children. Grand Central Station is a must-see. It’s phenomenal ceiling which depicts the constellations of the zodiacs to the whispering gallery and not to mention The Clock which is thought to be worth over $10 million. The list is endless.

For the TV and Film buffs, there are many bus trips on offer that take you on a journey through your favourite shows and movies. Visit the Friends building, see the Ghostbusters’ Firehouse and Men In Black headquarters to name but a few. Take a Sex In the City Tour where you can walk in the footsteps of Carrie and the gang, drink where they drank, gossip where they gossiped and shop where they shopped. If Gossip Girl is more your style, then there’s a tour for you too!

Central Park is a delightful place and a great escape from the City. There is so much to see and do here alone. You can experience many different tours by foot, cycle, pedicab and horse-drawn carriage. Visit the beautiful gardens, the paths less travelled and with 843 acres you are sure to find a quiet spot to relax a while.

One of my favourite experiences was watching the sunset behind the Statue of Liberty lighting up the most stunning skyline on board a classic schooner. With a glass of champagne in hand, this makes for a perfect end to a perfect City Break.

Let’s hear it for New York!
